LIVE AT THE SCALA Microfestival, 2013

The Scala Cinema, Siam Square, Bangkok
Curator: Mary Pansanga
Produced by Messy Project Space & Forest Fringe

The two moving image works selected are located in one of the dressing room spaces. They feature: “Gyre”, a work by an Austrian artist, Björn Kämmerer, it experiments with the relationship between architectural and cinematographic space and “The vehicle is outward... (interior appearance)” by a Thai artist, Kornkrit Jianpinidnan, which takes us into the maze of Bangkok at night. Both works explore the concrete form of an architectural space albeit an abstract review. The revolving images dare us to experience the space within the space, as well as the visible apparatus providing a spatial structure and also dialogue between the two works.

PORT CITIES BLUES 211/7.02 version, 2014

Collaboration Project with Apirak Jianpinidnun

Fictive Community

Koganecho Bazarr 2014, Yokohama

Curator : Makiko Hara

Apirak Jianpinidnun did historical field research in two cities, Yokohama, Japan and Chonburi, Thailand in collaboration with elder brother, Kornkrit Jianpinidnan and created this installation "Port Cities Blues" using the landscape of both cities through photography and sounds. Both cities have developed as key port cities through the key moments of history and have imported various cultures from all over the world with people and goods coming through ocean freight. Through the fieldwork, they researched the history of Jazz music in Yokohama, and they traced a trajectory of the famous Thai Luk Tung Song singer Chartri Srichon in Chonburi, who sang of the tragedy of life. Even the photography was shot in different cities in different countries, interwoven and merged into one slideshow with a soundscape that was inspired by the research. This sound and image slideshow invites us on a comfortable and dream-like timeless journey. Apirak created the sounds, abstract painting and installation, and Kornkrit the photography and video.
