หอศิลป์บ้านจิมทอมป์สัน มีความยินดีนำเสนอ ออเหลน (ORLANE) ผลงานศิลปะจัดวางเฉพาะเจาะจงพื้นที่ (site-specific installation)

ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นภาพหลากหลายของผู้คนแห่งกรุงเทพฯ พื้นที่เมือง และวัฒนธรรมของเยาวชน

ออเหลน เป็นคำแสลงที่ใช้เรียกวัยรุ่นชายในยุค พ.ศ. 2500 ที่ศิลปินพบจากการค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับภาพเหตุการณ์วัฒนธรรมสมัยนิยม และวัฒนธรรมของคนหนุ่มสาวในพื้นที่เมือง โดยได้แรงบันดาลใจจากการอ่านภาพและข้อเขียนจากคอลเล็กชั่นหนังสือของห้องสมุดวิลเลียม วอร์เรน ศิลปินได้สำรวจการปะทะสังสรรค์ทางวัฒนธรรม ความทรงจำทั้งที่เป็นของปัจเจกและส่วนรวมของวัยรุ่นในช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2500 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ผ่านรูปภาพ ข้อเขียน และสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ต่างๆ ขอบเขตของการรับรู้ภาพถ่ายจากอดีตได้ถูกขยายออกไปเพื่อสะท้อนบริบททางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมที่มีอยู่ในหลายมิติ และอาจนำไปสู่การเผยให้เห็นความเป็นจริงใหม่ๆ

ออเหลน จัดแสดงผลงานของศิลปิน ประกอบด้วย หนังสือ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ และภาพเคลื่อนไหว จัดวางอย่างเฉพาะเจาะจงพื้นที่ภายในห้องสมุดวิลเลียม วอร์เรน โดยผู้ใช้ห้องสมุดสามารถเปิด อ่าน และค้นหาได้

ORLANE
A site-specific installation
At William Warren Library

Organized in conjunction with Galleries’ Night Bangkok 2020

Jim Thompson Art Center is pleased to present ORALANE, a site-specific installation, which renders a portrait of the many faces of Bangkok, its urban spaces and youth culture.

ORLANE is a slang word, which refers to teenage boys who lived in Bangkok in 1957. Inspired by images and texts from the William Warren Library’s book collection, the artist explores cultural encounters, the individual and collective memories of young people from 1957 to the present through images, texts and printed materials. The scope of perceived images from the past is extended to reflect existing socio-cultural contexts, possibly revealing a new reality.

ORLANE consists of artist’s publications, printed materials and moving images, installed specifically in the William Warren Library;

library users can research and browse through material presented.
